Market Harborough and North Walsham under-10s are through to the Prima Tiger Cup semi-finals after an exciting day of action.

Welford Road was the setting as the first eight teams, made up 100 young players, took to the field in the super 16s on Saturday, before Leicester Tigers’ Aviva Premiership fixture with London Irish.

Teams from Tamworth, Holt, North Walsham, Ashby, Market Harborough, Oadby Wyggestonians, Hinckley and Wolverhampton took part in a series of hard-fought contests.

North Walsham won their last-16 game against Ashby 3-2 to set up a quarter-final with Tamworth, who edged out Ashby 1-0.

Market Harborough won their Leicestershire derby with Oadby Wyggestonians in their last-16 fixture while Hinckley beat Wolverhampton.

Two tight quarter-finals were decided by late tries, with North Walsham beating Tamworth 1-0 and Market Harborough edging out Hinckley by the same scoreline.

The Prima Tiger Cup, sponsored by Loughborough-based Prima Solutions, is enjoying its biggest-ever season with 70 teams entering the qualifying stages.

The second set of knockout fixtures will be played on Sunday, December 8 before Tigers take on Montpellier in the Heineken Cup. Keep an eye on the Tigers website and YouTube channel for the draw, which will be conducted by Tom Croft.

Market Harborough and North Walsham will return to Welford Road for their Prima Tiger Cup semi-finals later in the season. The teams from Holt, Ashby, Oadby Wyggestonians and Wolverhampton will also return to Welford Road at a future date in the Prima Tiger Bowl.
