Leicester Tigers’ AASE team Brooksby Melton College continue their league programme today against Sale Sharks’ Myerscough College.

The two teams meet in Round 5 of the Achieving Academic and Sporting Excellence (AASE) league, with Brooksby Melton College in fourth place in the North Group table.

The Brooksby Melton College team is made up of Tigers academy players and higher education students aged between 16-18 years.

The set-up aims to ensure the next generation have the skills and qualifications to progress a career in sport on and off the pitch.

Brooksby Melton College is a specialist independent college based in Leicestershire, offering further education, degrees, apprenticeships and short courses.

With Tigers, the college has built on its links with local rugby clubs and schools to offer access for talented athletes to a quality rugby programme.

It recently benefited from a £27.7 million investment, which included a brand new Sports Centre with a full sized, multi-functional sport hall, a sport science lab, strength and conditioning gym, and IT-equipped teaching spaces for students to complete theory work.

Players can benefit from professional rugby development on the pitch, securing a meaningful qualification in Sports Science, as well as accommodation on campus.

Courses include a Level 3 programme in sport for students aged between 16-18, as well as the newly-introduced sports-based foundation degree or a three year degree programme for students aged between 18-21.
