Tigers AASE team on the march

Leicester Tigers’ AASE team from Brooksby Melton College earned a bonus-point league win against Myerscough College this week.

Tries in the 22-8 victory were scored by the impressive Tigers academy player George Martin, who is an England Under-18s training squad member, and by wing Harry Stirland and man-of-the-match Josh Roe who claimed a double.

The Round 5 result leaves Brooksby Melton College fourth in the northern section of the ASSE League with one fixture remaining before the play-off format after October’s half-term.

The squad’s development continues off the pitch as well as on it thanks to the specialist 2018/19 Higher Education courses available for talented athletes at Brooksby Melton College.

The impressive college campus has undergone a £27.7 million investment, including a brand new Sports Centre with a full-sized, multi-functional sports hall, a sport science lab, strength and conditioning gym, and IT-equipped teaching spaces for students to complete theory work.

Pupils are able to benefit from courses including a two-year foundation degree in Sports Science with an additional third year option to complete a full BSc (Hons) degree, alongside working with Leicester Tigers staff to gain experience in strength and conditioning, video analysis, sports science/performance and rugby coaching opportunities.
