Tigers announce record season ticket numbers

Leicester Tigers will end 2013 backed by a record number of season ticket holders.

For a second year in a row, Tigers can announce record season ticket sales with almost 15,000 fans pledging their support for the remainder of the season.

And with Season Ticket Tasters – which guarantee a place at Welford Road for the second half of the campaign – proving a popular gift for Tigers fans this Christmas, the record number of season ticket holders will continue to rise.

Tigers, the defending Aviva Premiership champions, already have more than 7,500 season ticket holders signed up for the 2014/15 season.

Average attendance at Welford Road is also at an all-time high, with Tigers averaging more than 21,620 so far this campaign compared with 18,329 in 2012/13.

And with the Aviva Premiership game against Sale Sharks close to a sell-out, and the forthcoming home fixtures with Bath Rugby and Ulster Rugby also in high demand, Tigers are hopeful average attendances at Welford Road will continue to rise during the second half of the season.

Chris Rose, Tigers head of brand, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the level of support for the Tigers this season and we can announce for the second year in a row that we have record season ticket numbers.

“We still have a couple of weeks of the Season Ticket Taster campaign left so we are hopeful that record figure will continue to rise.

“Our Christmas game against Sale on December 28 will be our third sell-out already this season, and our average attendance from September through to December has increased from 18,329 in 2012/13 to 21,620 in 2013/14.

“Thank you to Tigers fans for their incredible support, which we hope will help push the players on to success again this season.”
