Tigers back Tickets For Troops one-million mark

Leicester Tigers were this week recognised for the club’s contribution to supporting Ticket For Troops free tickets to events for members of the armed forces. 

Since 2009, Tickets For Troops have supplied more than 1,000,000 tickets for sporting, theatre, music and exhibition events across the UK. 

Leicester Tigers offer 20 free tickets to every home match at Welford Road to members of the armed forces as part of the initiative. 

The club joined representatives from the sports and entertainment industry to celebrate Ticket For Troops #thanksamillion evening at the Ministry of Defence, London.

Former footballer Gary Lineker and Lance Sergeant Johnson Beharry VC were also in attendance as Tigers received a certificate for their support.

Sean Barker, ticket sales executive at Welford Road, represented Leicester Tigers and said: “We’re very proud to be able to play our part in the great work Tickets For Troops does for our country’s serviceman and women. 

“I’ve worked at Leicester Tigers for just over fifteen years and our free tickets for armed forces members has always been well received by rugby and non-rugby fans.

“Each season, we host our annual Uniform Day welcoming groups to the stadium from the air force, navy and army as well as the emergency services, and has now become a strong tradition that only adds to the club's heritage.”
