Tigers braced for champions' challenge

Matt O’Connor has told Leicester Tigers they need to “step up again” against defending Aviva Premiership champions Exeter Chiefs on Saturday.

Tigers secured a second successive win at Harlequins last Saturday with a performance that O’Connor described as a “move in the right direction”.

Now Tigers are braced for the challenge of a Chiefs side who sit on top of the table with three wins from the opening four rounds in defence of the title they won for the first time last May.

“We weren’t as good as we need to be in the first two rounds and we were really disappointed with our performance at Northampton,” said Tigers head coach O’Connor.

“But the lads have driven it well, we’ve made some adjustments and we've had two good results since then. We did a lot of good things against Quins last week and now we have to be better again this weekend.

“Chiefs are champions for a reason, they are a very efficient team and they make very few mistakes. It’s important to step up again, to aim up physically and be accurate.”

Tigers against Exeter Chiefs is a 3.00pm kick-off on Saturday and tickets are still available. Book in person at the Tigers ticket office, phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2) or on line. The office is open 9.00am-5.00pm Monday-Saturday, with online services available all day every day.
