Leicester Tigers today celebrate the club's 136th birthday.

Tigers were formed on August 3, 1880 at a meeting at the George Hotel in the Haymarket when Leicester Societies AFC, Leicester Amateur AFC and Leicester Alert decided to amalgamate to form a club that would represent the whole city.

Leicester Football Club played their first game that October against Moseley at the Belgrave Cricket and Cycle Ground. Watched by 400 people it ended in a 0-0 draw.

To mark the club’s birthday, mascot Welford paid a surprise visit to the home of young fan Noah Chamberlain, who celebrated his sixth birthday today, and presented him with some Tigers gifts.
