Tigers Classic: Leicester v Bristol [1995]

On a weekend that Tigers were supposed to be taking on the Bears in the Gallagher Premiership, Leicester supporters can re-live the club's 1994/95 Courage League win over Bristol, to secure that season's title in front of more than 12,000 fans at Welford Road on LTTV from 3.00pm this Sunday, May 31.

PREVIEW

Leicester Tigers will be looking to secure the 1994/95 Courage League title with a win over Bristol Rugby at Welford Road in the final fixture of the season on Saturday (April 29) afternoon.

The Tigers have won all but two of their League fixtures so far this season, as well as registering a 20-all draw away at Bath back in October, and remain undefeated at home in the competition.

After being knocked out of the Pilkington Cup competition on the first of the month, the Tony Russ coached Tigers are unbeaten with four successive victories and a win against Bristol this weekend will see them finish the League campaign with six wins in a row.

More than 12,000 supporters are expected to pack in to Welford Road for the highly anticipated fixture, including a handful of Leicester internationals who will watch on from the stands.

Russ is without England internationals Neil Back, Martin Johnson and Graham Rowntree in the forwards and the Underwood brothers in the backs, with the quintet reaching their match quota ahead of the upcoming 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa.

In the absence of the Underwood brothers, Wayne Kilford and Steve Hackney will start on the wings for Tigers with sharp-shooter John Liley included at fullback.
