Tigers date for Charlie & the Martyrs

They have played Leicestershire's biggest music festivals and toured with former Housemartin Paul Heaton, now Charlie & the Martyrs are preparing to perform at Tigers in the Park.

The Leicester band went down a storm at this year’s Summer Sundae and Strawberry Fields festivals. They supported Heaton, the former Housemartins and Beautiful South singer-songwriter, on his recent tour and have also toured with The Go! Team.

Now Charlie and the Martyrs are ready to play to a new audience at Tigers in the Park, the Leicester Tigers community fun day on Nelson Mandela Park this Saturday (11am to 3pm).

“They have played gigs and festivals and Tigers in the Park is going to be something different for them,” says the band’s manager Rob Jones.

““They have come off the back of a tour with Paul Heaton, that was a great experience for them, and they are looking forward to it.

“It will be cool to play to a Leicester audience. Their biggest audiences are in Leicester and Leicestershire.”

Tigers in the Park is a free day of music, performances and activities for the whole family being held by Tigers this Saturday to mark the start of the season against Exeter Chiefs (kick-off 3pm) and entry is free.

Attractions include performances by X Factor star Laura White and Jack Kenworthy, demonstrations by street dance crew Addict, Bollywood dancers Desi Masti and extreme unicyclists Streets United.

You could take on the rodeo rugby ball, an inflatable bungee run or the Army's climbing wall. There will also be the Tigers roadshow vehicle, The Maul, and the chance to take on the Speed Pass Challenge, an interactive Tigers quiz and tag rugby sessions with the club's community team as well as stalls, food and a bar.

Tickets to Tigers opening game of the season against Exeter Chiefs are available now from the Welford Road ticket office, on the hotline 0844 856 1880 or online by clicking here
