During 2017 Leicester Tigers introduced a new website and mobile application for supporters to enjoy. Six months down the line, we look at how the club’s digital arm has moved on.
Website kicks off new season
The goal was to build a website that was centred on user-experience and the customer journey. Housing club news and player content, links to partners and community initiatives, matchday ticketing and events plus much more, the website needed to be fast, mobile-responsive and easy to navigate while also reflecting the status of English rugby’s biggest club.
The Tigers website is the fastest website of all of the Aviva Premiership, Pro 14 and French Top 14 rugby clubs, allowing content to load within half a second. Now fans can view uninterrupted content alongside faster page loading, ensuring a seamless experience whether you are watching videos or making purchases online.
One of many new features on the website and app is the club’s Matchday Live Centre which provides live commentary on every Tigers match home and away, together with game stats, live score updates and insight from pre-match and post-match.
Fans ‘App’-laud
Alongside a brand new website was the launch of a new mobile app available on iOS and Android.
The Tigers app not only delivers push notifications of all breaking news, live scores and team updates but is also one of the best ways to interact with the club on the go.
From voting for your Spire Man of the Match at Welford Road to sharing matchday photos and even purchasing matchday food and drink – we’re proud that the app has brought the #TigersFamily even closer together.
And it wasn’t just our fans who were impressed. Apple included it in its Top 20 sports apps and the service also received a four-star-plus rating on both iOS and Android app stores.
Digital in numbers
The Tigers website now receives:
• 20% more page views
• 50% more mobile traffic
• 115% more referrals from social media, third-party websites and channels.
• 170,000 unique visitors a month with more than 130 original news articles a month
• Synchronising with the website, there are now more than 12,000 active users who have downloaded the app on iOS and Android devices.
The website and app was also awarded a Silver Award at the W3 Awards, which recognises creative excellence on the web.
With plans for an exclusive video hub, events calendar and enhanced fixture list as well as further interactive elements for the app, there is even more to come from the club’s digital platform.
