Tigers fans will be helping to raise awareness of diabetes as the club’s Fit Fans group took part in the filming of a new Leicester city council video campaign.
Leicester Tigers' Fit Fans meet at Welford Road every Monday and Wednesday evening to take part in training sessions and exercises as part of the ten-week programme.
From circuit training to fun games, Fit Fans is all about getting out, getting active and getting healthier.
The Fit Fans group were filmed during one of their sessions being put through their paces at Welford Road and Tigers head of community Scott Clarke was also interviewed as part of the video to be aired in the New Year.
Clarke said: "We are aware that Leicester has some of the highest levels of childhood obesity and health inequalities and have worked for the last 20 years within the community, schools and clubs to help raise awareness of the benefits of healthy choices and promote a physically active lifestyle.
"We presently run numerous programmes and initiatives such as the Global Payments Healthy Schools Programme, Greggs Tackling Health, Tigers Fit Fans and Move like a Pro all specifically designed to get people active and educate individuals and groups on the food and lifestyle choices they make.
"It’s always difficult as funding for such activities comes and goes but we have managed to provide that constant resource thanks to the support of our fans and great commercial partners as well as the more recent impact of the Leicester Tigers Foundation.
"We are determined to carry on and step up this focus and help work with all partners within the city to change the future outlook for as many people young and old as we possibly can."
Whether you’re looking to get fit, keep in shape or simply looking for a new challenge, Fit Fans can help you to achieve your goals in a fun and friendly environment.
If you’d like to get involved, fans can pay on a session-by-session basis at cost of £4.50 each week. Alternatively, you can also pay over the phone by calling the Tigers Ticket Office on 0116 319 8888 (option 2).
