Tigers help the homeless this Christmas

Members of Leicester Tigers development team were on hand to help out at The Bridge Hopelessness to Hope charity in the build-up to Christmas.

The mission to the disadvantaged began in 2009 when a group of local Christians started providing an outreach ‘Soup Run’ service to homeless people in Leicester. Today, volunteers come from many backgrounds and religions with a common goal to help those who are on the street to move from despair to hope.

For the past few years, members of the Tigers development team and academy squad have come together to help serve food to the homeless at The Bridge HQ on 43 Melton Street.

The group cooked and served up for food alongside volunteers, who help to deliver specialist services alongside expanded hot food services.

The Bridge were also an official charity partner of Leicester Tigers during the 2018/19 season.

David Fawcett, executive operations manager at The Bridge Homelessness to Hope commented: "Our volunteers are the heartbeat of the charity and dinner servings at our Melton Street facility are a key part of how they help us to support the homeless community in Leicester. We're so grateful for the Leicester Tigers academy squad and staff for giving up their time and offering to help out at one of our regular food services.

"Leicester Tigers have been a great supporter of the charity and this another great example of them reaching out to the vulnerable in our society."
