Leicester Tigers were delighted to welcome representatives of the official club charities for the opening home game of the season against Bath at Welford Road on Sunday.
The club will this year recognise four Official Charity Partners, teaming up with Hope Against Cancer, Warning Zone, Kidney Care Appeal and The Matt Hampson Foundation.
Representatives from each of the charities joined Tigers for an official presentation on the Welford Road pitch at half-time in Sunday’s match and received a huge reception when they were introduced to the 22,500-strong crowd.
Hope Against Cancer support research projects and clinical trials to fight cancer across Leicestershire and Rutland through fundraising, events and volunteering.
Warning Zone is a life-skills centre which aims to deliver life-saving messages to children and young people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Kidney Care Appeal’s focus is on helping people who suffer from chronic kidney disease through its research and work at The John Walls Renal Unit at Leicester Hospitals.
The Matt Hampson Foundation continues its work in providing support and inspiration for young people seriously injured through sport.
Scott Clarke, head of community at Tigers, said: “Each season at Leicester Tigers we aim to work closely with charities to help support their causes as well as help to spread awareness of issues within the community.
“It’s fantastic to welcome the charities as our official partners as well as continue our close working relationship with the team at The Matt Hampson Foundation.
“Throughout the season, we’ll be running a number of events for fans to get involved in and, like every year, our fans will no doubt show their support generously.”
Tigers’ charity partners receive a number of benefits to include a collection at a first-team match and assistance in raising the charity's profile by adding the stature of the club during their time as a partner.
As well as the benefits to charity partners, Tigers also make available 100 pairs of tickets to each of two designated 'charity fixtures' to be used by fund-raisers to generate revenues.
The club will be sharing more information this week across its website about each of the charities.
