Leicester Tigers and the club's supporters helped increase the profile of ABF The Soldiers' Charity and raise money at Saturday's Guinness Premiership match with London Irish.

The game saw Tigers team up with ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, which provides support for soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of need.

The charity’s red wristbands were on sale around Welford Road and Tigers made a donation to the fund via the club’s Cashback Scheme.

Major General Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter KCVO OBE DL, chief executive of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, said: “The day went really well and we are absolutely delighted to have this relationship with the Tigers.

“It was a very good opportunity to be able to promote our aims and to be visible, and it helped us raise a lot of money.

“Almost 24,000 spectators saw the name of the charity, which is good news for us.”

Leicester Tigers chairman Peter Tom CBE said: “As a club, we are proud of our links with the Armed Forces which go back to the very start of our history and I am delighted we can support ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.”
