Tigers favourites to meet youngsters at rugby camps next month

Former Leicester Tigers stars Martin Corry and Tom Varndell will be making special appearances at two Leicestershire rugby camps in August.

More than 100 youngsters between the ages of 9-15 will be taking part in the three-day and five-day camps based at Market Harborough RFC and Coalville RFC on the week beginning August 14.

Corry, who retired in 2009 after 279 appearances in 12 years at Tigers, will be joining the young players for a question-and-answer at Market Harborough. The former forward made 64 international caps and was part of the famous 2003 World Cup winning England team.

“I've supported the camps for a couple of years and so jumped at the chance to come along again for a Q&A session. The camps are very well run by the team and help to develop young players' rugby in a professional and fun environment. Hopefully they will have lots of questions for me!”

Varndell, Premiership Rugby's all-time top try-scorer, started his professional career at Welford Road in 2004 and is now with Bristol Rugby. He will be joining the youngsters at Coalville on August 15 for a Q&A.

"It’s a great opportunity for the young stars of tomorrow to learn some of the secrets to improve their game. My lad Taio has been lucky enough to join this year’s camp and he’s already excited with less than a month to go.”

Players in the under-seven and under-eights age group have morning tag rugby sessions (9.30am-noon) on three days from Monday, August 14, with the older players (under-nine to under-15) joining the camp for five full days (9.30am-3.30pm).

A great way for young players to develop their knowledge and understanding of the game, Tigers Rugby Camps offer a fun and active way to spend the school holidays and make new friends while learning tips and techniques from Tigers coaches.

Players all receive a free ticket to an allocated home game at Welford Road, free membership to the Junior Tigers Club and Tigers souvenirs to take away. Players on the full contact camp also receive a hot lunch each day.

There are still a few spaces left to join the upcoming camps. You can book your place by clicking below or contacting Leicester Tigers ticket office on 0116 319 8888 (option 2).
