Tigers make matchday plans for ‘Plan B’

Leicester Tigers are working on plans to address the main points of the Government's updated restrictions on Covid while still allowing supporters to book and visit the stadium safely and with confidence.

The Government has revealed its ‘Plan B’ to slow the spread of Covid and the Omicron variant which includes restrictions on sporting venues.

As the announcement was only made on Wednesday evening, the clubs are not yet in receipt of full details, but Tigers will continue to work closely with local authorities and with rugby bodies including Premiership Rugby, the RFU and EPCR, organisers of the Heineken Champions Cup, on maintaining the safety of players and supporters.

Under the new guidelines, to attend matches at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, the Government requires that:

  • All supporters have proof of vaccination or a lateral flow/PCR negative Covid test result before being admitted to the stadium.

Full details are not expected until next week, but at this stage Tigers would like season ticket holders, members and ticket purchasers to know what this process might look like ahead of the Heineken Champions Cup home date with Connacht Rugby next Sunday (December 19).

From next week and until any further change in the guidelines, attendance at home games will be dependent upon supporters completing a declaration on behalf of their group which will state that:

  • They are all Covid-free
  • They are not required to isolate
  • They will provide evidence of vaccination or a lateral flow/PCR negative test result at the match.

This will require pre-match checks at the turnstiles, and failure to complete the declaration or provide proof of vaccination/negative test result may result in refusal of entry to the stadium.

Please allow extra time for entry to the stadium to comply with these checks so you can still enjoy the build-up to kick-off and the pre-match entertainment.

Match tickets remain on sale at the Tigers ticket office and we hope that, by making these adjustments, we can continue to welcome big crowds and create the atmosphere which is so well known at Mattioli Woods Welford Road with the safety and wellbeing of players and supporters as our priority.
