Leicester Tigers staged the club’s annual Remembrance Day commemorations at Mattioli Woods Welford Road on Saturday.

Players, supporters and special guests from the Armed Services joined the service ahead of kick-off in the opening game of an historic Double Header at the home of the Tigers.

Special guests this year included Brigadier Stuart Williams, Colonel Murray Colville, Colonel Martin Romilly and representatives of the Leicestershire Regiment, Royal British Legion and Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

They gathered alongside players and officials for The Exhortation, recited by Phillip Walden of the Royal British Legion, followed by playing of The Last Post and a period of silence around the stadium in honour of the fallen, and The Epitaph delivered by Captain Bob Allen of the Leicestershire Regiment.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

When you go home, tell them of us and say,
For your tomorrow, we gave our today.
