Head coach Stuart Lancaster says there is a buzz around the England camp after his extended training squad assembled at Pennyhill Park to begin World Cup preparations.Leicester Tigers players Dan Cole, Ed Slater and Ben and Tom Youngs linked up with the 49-man group at England’s base and were being put through their paces today. Bath’s Semesa Rokoduguni will link up with the squad following David Strettle’s withdrawal earlier this week.
Lancaster said: ““It’s exciting coming into camp and I look at the quality of players we have got and the physical state they are in.
“Looking at the forwards in particular, a lot of them are in good shape. They look fresher and none of them have downed tools – they’d be daft to, to be honest. They’ve kept themselves ticking over.
“To start everyone on the same day was great. There was a real buzz. I’ve given them a bit of a talk on where I felt we were as a group. It’s actually going to be more important to hold them back actually, because they are ready to go,” he told RFU.com.
