Leicester Tigers are showing their support for the Aviva Community Fund, a new nationwide funding initiative from the Aviva Premiership title sponsors Aviva which launched today. The Aviva Community Fund offers support and funding for inspirational local causes. Anyone can nominate an eligible cause close to their heart for a grant of up to £25,000. To be eligible, the cause must have an annual turnover of no more than £5 million.
Do you have a project or charity that means a lot to you and your community? Then why not enter it into the Aviva Community Fund? Leicester Tigers fans can submit the project that they are supporting into one of four categories - health, disability and wellbeing; supporting the younger generation; supporting the older generation; and community support.
The entries will then be voted for by the public and those with the most public votes will become finalists. The finalists will go through to the Aviva Judging Panel, who will select a number of winners to be announced in July.
Mark McCafferty, Premiership Rugby chief executive, said: "Premiership Rugby are delighted to be supporting this exciting new initiative from Aviva which delivers much-needed funds into some great causes across the United Kingdom.
"The Aviva Community Fund will provide real help to real community projects throughout the UK, some of whom will be connected to the clubs within Aviva Premiership Rugby.
"Many of the players and staff at Aviva Premiership Rugby clubs have a personal relationship with a local community project and I hope they will encourage those organisations to apply and then support them when it comes to the big public vote in April and May. It's a great idea and I look forward to seeing it in action.”
