Leicester Tigers aim to introduce tag rugby to more than 3,500 children this season through the new Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme.

Tigers have joined forces with Premiership Rugby main sponsor Aviva to teach tag to Key Stage 2 pupils aged nine and 10.

Community coaches will teach tag to children at 50 schools and train their teachers to continue developing tag in the future.

The programme involves a six-week introduction with the first half focused on skill development and learning the rules. Weekes three to five will involve team skills before the programme concludes with a festival to give players a taste of competitive rugby.

One school from the Tigers region will qualify for the finals, which will be held at Twickenham on Aviva Premiership Rugby Final day.
