Laurence was well known throughout the Leicestershire rugby community having given much of his time to club, county and Tigers community.
“Laurence was a great man to have alongside you when organising and running events,” Clarke said. “He was a great administrator, knew the laws inside and out.
“Laurence personified the ethos of the game, he loved playing it and when those days ended he gave back in bucket loads.
“For well over a decade he has been our lead referee on match days and major festivals, even as recently as the Prima Tiger Cup quarter finals at Welford Road on November 27.
“His knowledge, honesty and friendship in rugby will be sadly missed. Our best wishes go to his family from all at Leicester Tigers.”
