The Leicester Tigers squad took a break from pre-season rugby to learn some new skills alongside the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS professionals. The STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Series is a major league of lumberjack sports with a global fanbase following events live and on TV.
Thanks to STIHL, one of the club’s sponsors, Tigers players were given instruction from the professionals in a number of disciplines, working as individuals and pairs, with a place on the winners board at stake.
New signing Peter Betham and fly-half Freddie Burns came out on top in the individual events while Laurence Pearce and Aniseko Sio teamed up to win the Double saw category ahead of front-row duo Greg Bateman and Harry Thacker, and the Italian duo, Riccardo Bruganara and Tiziano Pasquali.
“It’s been good fun – I never knew chopping logs could be such hard work!” said hooker Bateman.
Thanks to the team from STIHL for an entertaining and competitive day.
Look out for our LTTV coverage of the day and interviews with some of the players on the club website this weekend.
