Tigers welcome visiting French coaches

Leicester Tigers hosted a group of top young coaches from France in the build-up to this weekend’s Aviva Premiership fixture against Worcester Warriors.

A group of Diplome 2 coaches – equivalent to Level 4 in the UK – arrived in Leicester from France on Wednesday and included a trip to the Tigers training ground and Welford Road stadium.

They enjoyed a question-and-answer session with coaches Matt O’Connor and Boris Stankovich, had the chance to watch the Tigers team in training in preparation for another big game at Welford Road and heard from the club's junior academy manager Jamie Taylor about the pathway for young talent as well as having a stadium tour.

The group also visited the birthplace of the game at Rugby School, as well as taking in a match between Leicester Grammar School and Oakham School.

Ged Glynn, Tigers head of rugby operations, said: “The link between some of France’s young coaches and our own coaching staff can only be a positive and the exchange of ideas between the two cultures can develop for the future.”
