The 2006/07 Premiership Champions were unable to build on wins over Leeds Carnegie and Worcester Warriors in their last two league fixtures as they fell to a 20-14 defeat in Stockport. Tigers now turn their attentions to Saturday’s home match against London Irish, with Corry determined that Sunday’s disappointment will help bring about an improved result.
“We’ll have the pain from this one for a little while and then we’ll get back into training and start focusing on Irish,” said Corry. “It’s important we don’t get too far ahead of ourselves – we’ve got to make sure we learn from this one.
“There are positives to take out of it but, at the moment, we’ve got to look at bits of a game which we should have won but let slip.
“There were a lot of errors from us in the first half but they came about from us trying to play. That was disappointing but I thought the second half was a lot better. There were still mistakes but that’s something which we’re tying to work on and trying to get out of our game.”
Corry played in a back row featuring Tom Croft and Luke Abraham, with the skipper insisting that the strength in depth within the squad will be a positive thing for the remainder of the season.
“Whichever combination we put forward from this squad is going to be good because we’ve got seven or eight top-quality back-row players at the club. We’ve got a really competitive squad so changes are made and you’ve got to play this squad because you’ve got quality throughout.”
