Kingston Park, Newcastle was the destination for the #Tigersfamily this weekend as the team chased a fifth straight victory in the Aviva Premiership season against a high-flying Falcons side.
Although the clocks going back signalled the official start of winter time, the sun shone in the North-East as Kingston Park hosted a capacity crowd featuring a large number of travelling fans.
Some made their way early, making a weekend of it as they visited the Angel of the North and other attractions ahead of the match.
On Twitter, Tigers supporter Gyles – aka @bigtractor – shared a selfie including the famous Angel.
“We’re here already having a great time,” Gyles said on Friday afternoon.
Others chose to rise before dawn on Sunday and travel with their fellow #tigersontour fans aboard the Away Supporters Club bus or on the motorways by car to see their team in action.
Long-time fan Victoria Redshaw shared a photo on Twitter of her and husband Ian taking in the sights on the way to see Matt O’Connor’s men in action.
“Scenic route to Newcastle via the Ribbleshead Viaduct,” she shared on the social media platform.
No matter how good the weather or views, the 400-mile round trip from Welford Road did not disappoint, as Victoria added: “It’s beautiful” and then said “Glorious today. And then there was our win too!”
Not alone in her excitement at the 30-13 victory, though, as Tigers supporters celebrated a third straight away victory to move into third position in the Aviva Premiership table.
Elizabeth – aka @_xElizabeth99x_ - shared her joy online, saying: “Just arrived home. Absolutely loved KP. Very well done @LeicesterTigers on another win.”
Meanwhile, Simon Faulkner also shared his excitement, posting: “Great win today. Makes the long journey for all the travelling fans worthwhile.”
Indeed it does Simon.
