ks was joined in the England starting XV by Leicester colleagues Tom Collett and Jack Cobden as the red-rose side came back from a half-time deficit to make it three wins from four internationals this season following a 14-8 triumph over France and a 15-6 victory over Scotland. England's only defeat came against Wales (21-9).
It was Tonks who got England on to the front foot on Saturday, grabbing the first try in the opening stages of the second half.
A penalty by Rob Miller put England 6-5 ahead and then Tonks struck. A line-out eight metres from Ireland's try-line saw scrum-half Dave Lewis recycle the ball out into midfield to Miller and then Luke Eves. Bristol centre Eves made some space to set up Tonks to score. Miller converted, putting England 13-5 up and from there they were never bettered.
England head coach Chris Kibble said: "It is a great feeling to finish this festival with a solid performance and on a winning note. Although the players defended well in the first half, they knew they had to up the tempo. They did just that, giving us the opportunity to get front-foot play and that resulted in two very well-executed tries. All the players have learned a lot from this experience and have come on leaps and bounds."
