Toulon clash as big as they come, says Gibson

Goldsmiths Player of the Month Jamie Gibson says games do not come any bigger than facing defending European champions Toulon at Welford Road.

Leicester Tigers host Toulon, the defending French Top 14 champions and current leaders, on Sunday in Pool 3 of the European Rugby Champions Cup.
Gibson says last season’s experience of big European occasions against French opponents Montpellier and Clermont has whetted the appetite for Sunday’s Welford Road clash (kick-off 5.30pm).
“Playing against Clermont and Montpellier last year were a couple of huge games and Toulon are one of the best teams in Europe over the last few of years,” he says. “You can’t play bigger games at club level. I can’t wait.”
Gibson was voted the Goldsmiths Player of the Month for November by supporters and received his award after full-time of Saturday’s Aviva Premiership game with Wasps.
“It’s very nice to win,” says Gibson. “When I was at London Irish, one of the things you notice when you come to Leicester is that they are a knowledgeable crowd.
“So to be voted by them is a massive honour and I’m incredibly grateful.”
Tigers against Toulon is included on the Tigers season ticket. Match tickets are available online by clicking here, on 0116 319 8888 and in person from the Welford Road ticket office.
