Louis Deacon says the residential Tigers Rugby Camp at Bishop Burton College will give an insight into the life of a professional player.Tigers return to the college in East Yorkshire from Sunday, August 16 to Friday, August 21, giving players a full week’s worth of coaching. We've even arranged a welcome barbeque to kick off the week in style
Bishop Burton College's Centre for Sport & Fitness is the focal point of their Sports Village which hosts the Rugby Camp and accommodates the players. Facilities include a state-of-the-art fitness suite, 4G artificial turf pitch, grass pitches and sports hall and only a small number of places remain available.
Deacon join the coaching team on the Wednesday to pass on his experience gained in 29 England caps and 274 first-team appearances for the Tigers in a squad that won six Premiership titles and was champions of Europe twice.
“They have got great facilities at Bishop Burton College,” the former Tigers lock said. “Training there on the residential camp will give young players a real taste of what it’s like to live the life of a professional rugby player.
“They will be training twice a day, eating their meals together, looking at how to rest properly – it’s a rugby-structured week.
“They will be coached by professional rugby coaches and ex-players so it will be great for them to gain that first-hand knowledge.
“And if any of the players catch the eye I’ll be sure to give my brother (Tigers Academy coach) Brett a call!”
Deacon will also join the Tigers Rugby Camps at Lutterworth RFC (August 3-7), Market Harborough and Ratcliffe College (both August 10-14) for a day of coaching at each venue.
Tigers are also hosting camps based at clubs and schools in Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire during the rest of the summer holidays and places are filling up fast, with the Lichfield camp (July 27 to July 31) already sold out.
