Kick-off at Welford Road on Saturday will follow a minute’s silence in respect of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, the Leicester City FC chairman who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash last weekend.

He was among five people who lost their lives in the crash on Saturday evening next to the King Power Stadium stadium and tributes will be paid ahead of kick-off in Saturday’s Premiership Rugby Cup fixture between Leicester Tigers and visitors Worcester Warriors.

Tigers chief executive Simon Cohen writes in his programme notes for Saturday’s game: “As we watched the unfolding tragedy at the King Power Stadium last weekend, we all experienced feelings of terrible sadness and loss.

“In my experience, we’ve never had a minute’s silence here for someone who did not contribute to Leicester Tigers or the game of rugby, but Vichai is an exception as what he did gave the whole city of Leicester so much impetus and excitement.

“He is a huge loss, not just to the football club but to the city of Leicester and did so much to make the club so welcoming and friendly.”

Supporters are urged to make their way to their places in the stadium in good time to be able to pay their respects.
