Tigers plan matchday tribute to Tudor

Leicester Tigers will host a minute’s silence ahead of kick-off in the opening home game of the season on Saturday in memory of former first-team secretary and club president Tudor Thomas, who passed away this summer at the age of 89.

A very popular figure with players, officials and supporters, Tudor’s long service to the Tigers began as team secretary before he became first-team secretary in 1978. He remained in post until 1993 as well as serving as club president and then stepped into the role of honorary secretary in 1995 at the beginning of the professional era. He was awarded life membership of the Tigers in 2007.

Tigers encourage all supporters to get to their places in the stadium in good time ahead of the tribute.

The Past Players Association are also commemorating Tudor with a presentation in the Droglites Bar in the Mattioli Woods Stand after the game.

Kick-off against Newcastle Falcons is at 3.00pm on Saturday, with activities and attractions at Tigers In The Park from 11.00am.
