U10-U11 girls invited to pre-match taster

Leicester Tigers community team The Swifts is inviting U10 and U11 age group girls to come and take part in a pre-match touch rugby taster session on Nelson Mandela Park ahead of Tigers final home game of this season on Saturday, May 18 (4.00pm). 

The club’s first-ever black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) youth rugby club has grown in size since it was first created back in early 2018 playing competitively against local rugby clubs at Welford Road. 

In partnership with Premiership Rugby’s Project Rugby initiative, The Swifts is aimed at boys and girls aged between seven and 11 from primary schools across the city.

As well as helping to grow the sport, Tigers is helping to give youngsters from BAME backgrounds to experience rugby as well as build links with local rugby teams. 

Open to young women’s players of any ability, if you would like to get involved with the taster session with The Swifts, meet at Gate 26 at 1.30pm in between the Mattioli Woods and Breedon Stand

All children must make their way over to Nelson Mandela Park for a 2.00pm kick-off. The session will last 20-30 minutes and then the group will be free to explore Welford Road ahead of Tigers kick-off at 4.00pm.

The Junior Tigers Club will be open to keep youngsters entertained as the club celebrates its annual JTC Takeover Day, where members take on matchday roles around the stadium.
