Ben Youngs is under no illusions about the challenge facing Leicester Tigers when they travel to the Kingspan Stadium in their final pool fixture in this season's European Rugby Champions Cup.Tigers take on Ulster Rugby needing victory, ideally with a try bonus point, to maintain any hope of qualifying for the knockout stages of Europe’s premier club competition. And even then Tigers would be reliant on results elsewhere in Europe in order to qualify.
But Youngs, who received a bottle of Champagne after being named the Spire Man of the Match after Friday’s win against Scarlets, says Tigers have to concentrate on their final fixture in Belfast, a venue that has not been a happy hunting ground in recent seasons.
“To win at Ravenhill is a really tough,” says the Tigers captain. “So if we win, that’s a good springboard for the rest of the season, because it is that tough a place to go.
“I’ve been there twice now and got beaten fairly convincingly, so it’s going to be a challenge for us.
“We need another four tries again so I guess the Scarlets game was almost like a trial run. Getting that result will give us confidence going to Ulster.”
The Spire Man of the Match is supported by Tigers' official healthcare partners Spire Leicester Hospital, who provide excellent private healthcare to patients from across the East Midlands and beyond, and whose physiotherapy team work with the Tigers.
The Spire Man of the Match is an exclusive VIP hospitality package available at Tigers home games. It offers a unique opportunity for up to 10 guests to be in the tunnel when the players leave the pitch at full-time and present a bottle of Champagne to their chosen Spire Man of the Match.
