A squad of Tigers teenagers gained experience of international competition in an U-17 Anglo-French tournament at The Twickenham Stoop.

The Rugby Against Hunger event, which raised funds for the Action Against Hunger charity, featured teams from five Premiership clubs plus French visitors Stade Francais, Toulouse and Perpignan.

After opening with a 15-10 win over Perpignan, Tigers were beaten by hosts Harlequins and by an impressive Saracens outfit. In the play-off stages, Tigers lost 19-0 to London Wasps as Saracens carried off the top prize, beating Toulouse 14-0 in the final.

Carl Douglas, player development manager at Tigers, said: "It was a very well organised tournament set up to help a very worthy cause and we were delighted to be invited. We would certainly like to be involved again.

"Although results did not go our way, the whole day provided an excellent insight and a good experience for our younger and prospective Academy players.

"All of the games were very competitive and Saracens were deserved winners, judging by their performance against us."
