“Worcester are a good side with a lot of good players and it’s going to be a tough game,” says Varndell. “They’ll be up for it and they’ll see the game as a victory to be had. We’ve got to shut them out early, play the rugby we know we can play and get that win. Playing at Welford Road does give us a buzz and the crowd are great whenever we’re there.”
Having opened with three straight victories in the Guinness Premiership, Tigers have slipped to two recent defeats, but Varndell says the players are aware of what needs to be done if they are to return to winning ways this Saturday.
“It’s been a disappointing couple of weeks. We haven’t played our best rugby but there’s still good things we can take away from our performances and hopefully we can win this weekend. Gloucester are still unbeaten and Saracens are a very strong side so I think it was a case of little mistakes costing us in the last couple of weeks. We need to cut out those mistakes, play with confidence and play like we train during the week.”
Tickets for the game against Worcester (kick-off 3pm) are available from the Tigers ticket office, or by calling 08701 28 34 30.
