University of Leicester and De Montfort University have had to jointly make the difficult decision to cancel Varsity 2020, including the men’s and women’s rugby fixtures at Welford Road next week.
The decision has been made as neither university wishes to place students and staff at increased possibility of spreading COVID-19.
Both universities are saddened that they have had to take such a difficult decision, but the safety of students and staff is paramount.
Following the Government’s latest advice to delay the spread of coronavirus, DMU events on Saturday (March 14) have also been cancelled, including the Open Day, Applicant Taster Day and VIP events.
