Varsity night comes to Welford Road, home of the Leicester Tigers, on Wednesday evening (March 26).

Each year the sports teams from the University of Leicester and De Montfort University play each other to decide the identity of the dominant sporting institute, with the event concluding in front of a large and noisy crowd at Welford Road for the Varsity rugby matches.

University of Leicester are the defending champions in both the men’s and women’s fixtures, and we’re expecting two hotly-contested games again when the teams meet at the home of the Leicester Tigers this week.

Can De Montfort take the honours for the first time in the Women’s game or will the Team University of Leicester retain their title and make it 11 in a row? Kick-off is at 6.30pm.

 The Men’s fixture follows at 8pm. This will be the 13th meeting of these two teams, with Team University of Leicester leading the trophy count by seven wins to four, with one epic draw in 2007.

Tickets are already on sale direct from the Tigers ticket office, price £5 in advance or £7.50 on the night.
