Veainu shortlisted for RPA Player award

Telusa Veainu has been shortlisted for the RPA Players’ Player of the Year.

Veainu thanked his Leicester Tigers’ teammates and coaches as he admitted he was shocked by the nomination by his fellow players.

The Tigers full-back is on a five-man shortlist along with  Don Armand (Exeter Chiefs), Vereniki Goneva (Newcastle Falcons), Sam Simmonds (Exeter Chiefs) and Sinoti Sinoti (Newcastle Falcons).

Veainu, who was shortlisted for the Players’ Player and Supporters’ Player of the year awards at Tigers, said: “I am pretty shocked to be nominated but also extremely grateful to my peers for the support.

“I must give credit to my Leicester teammates and coaches for giving me the opportunity to perform to my best and allowing me to go out on the pitch and do my thing.”

The RPA Players’ Player of the Year Award in association with England Rugby recognises the outstanding player of the domestic season as voted by the players.

The winner will be announced at the RPA Players' Awards in association with England Rugby on Wednesday, May 9 at Battersea Evolution.
