Vote for February's Player of the Month

Voting is now open for the Lumbers Player of the Month for February.

Greg Bateman, Brendon O’Connor and Matt Toomua are on the three-man shortlist and supporters can vote for their favourite now on the Lumbers website by clicking here.

Bateman was in eye-catching form in the loose during February. His run in the win against Harlequins evoked memories of his try at the Stoop and his finish against Saracens was nominated for Try of the Week. He also played his part in the set-piece, which was 100 per cent against Gloucester Rugby and Quins, and was at 93 per cent at Sarries.

O’Connor took his total number of turnovers for the Aviva Premiership season to 14 during February, the second-highest across the league. He was named the Aviva Man of the Match for his performance against Saracens, making more tackles, more clean breaks and winning more turnovers in the game than any other Leicester player.

Toomua slotted seamlessly into fly-half in February. He kicked the conversion to bring back a bonus point from Kingsholm before fans voted him their Spire Man of the Match for his try-scoring performance against Quins. He was to the fore against Sarries, helping make Telusa Veainu’s try and kicking four conversions.

Harry Wells was the Lumbers Player of the Month for January, to add to his award in August. The other previous winners of the award this season are Valentino Mapapalangi, Jonny May, Dan Cole and Telusa Veainu.

Supported by High Street jewellers Lumbers and voted for by Tigers supporters, the player of the month award recognises the contributions of individual players to the team cause throughout the campaign.

Established in 1881, Lumbers jewellers have been at the heart of Leicester for more than 135 years - just like the Tigers - and are the sponsors of the club’s monthly player of the month award.

The Lumbers team offers unparalleled service and knowledge for clients at their new premises in High Street, Leicester, with an extensive range of services including jewellery and watch repairs, valuations and engraving.
