Summer signings Peter Betham and Mike Fitzgerald, and scrum-half Sam Harrison are on the three-man shortlist for the first Goldsmiths Player of the Month award of the season. All three players have featured heavily in the Kings of the North tournament and the Marcos Ayerza Testimonial Challenge, and fans can vote for their Player of the Month now by clicking here.
Australia international Betham has made a big impact in a small amount of time since his arrival at Welford Road in August. His silky running from wing and centre has been a feature of pre-season so far, with his long-range try against Newcastle Falcons at Welford Road a particular highlight.
Another of Tigers’ summer signings who has settled quickly into life at Welford Road, Fitzgerald has provided a big physical presence in the loose and set-piece.
The 6ft 6in, 18st 3lb forward announced himself to Tigers fans with a stunning double tackle in his first appearance at Welford Road in the Marcos Ayerza Testimonial Challenge against Argentina.
Harrison has been in typical all-action form during the Kings of the North tournament and the Marcos Ayerza Testimonial Challenge. Harrison has provided a consistent threat in attack and has been terrier-like in defence. And with a youthful feel to matchday squads, the scrum-half has taken on more of a leadership role
The Tigers Player of the Month award is supported by Goldsmiths, the largest prestige and luxury jewellers in the UK, who are also official East Stand sponsors and official timekeepers.
