Voting open for Lumbers award

Voting is open now for the Lumbers Player of the Month for January.

Centre Jack Roberts, second-rower Ed Slater and hooker Tom Youngs are on the three-man shortlist for the monthly award.

Voting is open now on the Lumbers website at www.lumbers.co.uk

Roberts has emerged this season to make an impact on the first-team squad. An eye-catching turn of pace, Roberts has made his first Champions Cup and scored his first try for the club in the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

Slater has been in some of his best form as he approaches 100 starts for the Tigers. His high work-rate around the park – 33 rucks and 12 tackles against Saracens – has been allied to strong set-piece work, which included winning eight lineouts against Sarries, a high across the Aviva Premiership in Round 13.

Another senior player who is approaching 100 starts, club captain Youngs has led from the front – both on and off the field – during January. A consistent performer in the loose and the set-piece, he has also been a rock in defence with a 100 per cent tackle completion rate in the games against Saracens, Wasps and Racing 92.

The trio will be aiming to follow this season’s previous winners Luke Hamilton, Adam Thompstone and Freddie Burns.
