More than 300 supporters joined the Tigers coaching staff and players for last night’s awards dinner in the Premiership Suite in the Caterpillar Stand.
Back-rower Waldrom, a summer arrival from New Zealand, won the fans’ vote for the Player of the Year and his form also helped him secure the Newcomer of the Year award.
“Welford Road is an amazing place to play rugby,” said Waldrom whose parents were able to share the awards evening during a trip from New Zealand.
“The supporters are very passionate and we’re lucky that big crowds turn up week in, week out to cheer us on.
“The rugby is very intense in the Premiership and I’m lucky I’ve been able to settle in here pretty quickly.”
Julian White was another winner on the night, taking home an Omega watch courtesy of Goldsmiths, after winning the Outstanding Service Award.
The England international prop said: “I have played rugby all over the world and for lots of different clubs but there is definitely something different about Leicester Tigers.
“Once you have played here you do not want to go anywhere else.
“I think I’ll hang in there for one more year and if I can help in any way I will do that.”
Manu Tuilagi, who made his Aviva Premiership debut as a replacement against Northampton Saints on the opening weekend of the season, picked up the Supporters’ Young Player.
Tuilagi said: “It’s an amazing feeling to win the award. I wasn’t in the team at the start of the season but it’s going very well for me now.”
Anthony Allen, the Players’ Player of the Year, claimed Try of the Season award for his solo score in the win at Bath during March, which you can watch by clicking here
