Wallabies duo report back for Test duty

Matt Toomua and Tatafu Polota-Nau headed back to international duty with Australia immediately after playing for Leicester Tigers at Exeter on Saturday.

Toomua, who came off the bench in both of the Wallabies’ fixtures against New Zealand, returned to the UK and started in the Tigers backline for the opening fixture in the Gallagher Premiership campaign, while hooker Polota-Nau came off the bench for the club after a starting role with the national squad in the previous fortnight.

“They’re on their way back now,” said Tigers head coach Matt O’Connor shortly after the final whistle at Sandy Park on Saturday evening.

“Thankfully, they were here in the pre-season, and they’re world-class players so you want to have them involved when they are available to you. Now they’ll be away again for a couple of weeks before we have them again.”

Tighthead prop Gaston Cortes, who was an unused replacement at Exeter, joins up with the Argentina squad this week.
