Warm welcome awaits Tigers fans, says Murphy

Geordan Murphy says Leicester Tigers fans will receive a warm welcome from the people of Dublin for this weekend's Heineken Cup quarter-final with Leinster.

“It is a great city,” says Murphy, who has been capped 69 times by Ireland. “You are bound to receive a very warm welcome.

“It is a very historic city full of very friendly people and a great place to enjoy a couple of pints of Guinness.”

Tigers fans have begun to arrive in the city and Murphy has picked out some of his highlights in the first of our Dublin Diaries, in association with East Midlands Airport.

“On Saturday, pre-match, you could try a stroll along Grafton Street or around St Stephen’s Green,” says Murphy. “St Stephen’s Green is right bang in the centre of the city, Grafton Street is a good shopping area and O’Connell Street is always interesting to take in.

“For something to eat, there are a lot of very nice restaurants in the city. There is l’Ecrivain where Derry Clarke is the chef. It’s Michelin starred and very nice. Shanahan’s on the Green on St Stephen’s Green is also very nice and gets rave reviews.

“There are lots of bars where you are sure to be welcomed. A place called The 51 is a good bar or you could go to Cafe on the Seine or Keoghs.”
