Watch the Academy in action

Support a new generation of Leicester Tigers players in action over the next two weekends, including a match at Welford Road.

The Tigers Academy make the short journey to Stoughton Playing Fields for a fixture against the University of Leicester tomorrow (Sunday, October 19). Kick-off is at 2.30pm.

The club's roadshow vehicle, know as The Maul, will also be there with an opportunity to take part in rugby games and the Tigers photo booth, as well as information on student matchday offers.

Next Saturday (October 25), Tigers launch their Premiership Academy Under-18 League season against Gloucester at Welford Road. Kick-off is at midday and admission is free to all supporters via the turnstiles in the Holland & Barrett Stand.

Tigers have lost just one Academy League fixture in the two seasons of the competition and will be hoping to get the campaign off to a good start on home turf.

“We’ve enjoyed the first two seasons of the Under-18 League because we’ve always believed there is a major benefit in bringing the best young players in their age-group together in a competitive environment,” says Tigers Academy manager Neil McCarthy.

“Playing at Welford Road is an important part of a young player’s development with us and we hope as many supporters as possible can come down and watch the game.

"This is where all of these young players aim to play their rugby in the future and playing at a famous stadium is obviously a big incentive for the whole squad.”

If you’re not travelling to Llanelli for the European Rugby Champions Cup match next Saturday – or if you want to see live rugby before the Tigers’ second European fixture of the season on television, come down to Welford Road. We hope to see you then.
