Goldsmiths Player of the Month Sam Harrison says Leicester Tigers can still get better after a fifth successive Aviva Premiership win moved them into the top four in the table.Tigers leapfrogged Exeter in the table with a 25-18 win against the Chiefs at a sold-out Welford Road.
Harrison, who was announced as the latest winner of the monthly Goldsmiths award during half-time of Saturday’s win, said: “The boys are delighted to get the result.
“It was a huge game for us. We knew that if we won that we would leapfrog them in the Aviva Premiership table.
“The main thing is that we came away with the result but we played some really good rugby in parts as well.
“We were disappointed to let them get the penalty at the end and give them the bonus point but the lads are really happy with the win.
“There is a lot to improve, which is good for us because we are playing well but there are still areas to improve.”
Harrison won the supporters’ vote for the Goldsmiths Player of the Month ahead of teammates Sebastian de Chaves and Adam Thompstone.
He was presented with his prize by award sponsors Goldsmiths in the tunnel after the game and said: “It’s a great feeling. I am really proud of that.
“It’s good to know that the supporters like you as a player. I give it my all and I will continue to do so.
“It’s credit to all of the lads in that Six Nations period. We have been a really tight-knit squad and got four wins out of four.
“It was a great to have such a solid squad around me, so all credit to them.”
The Tigers Player of the Month award is supported by Goldsmiths, the largest prestige and luxury jewellers in the UK, who are also official East Stand sponsors and official timekeepers.
