Leicester Tigers mascot Welford joined staff at a branch of Nottingham Building Society to help the team to raise money for Sports Aid this week.

The Loughborough branch set themselves the task of cycling the equivalent of 274km, the distance between its most northern branch in Scunthorpe to its most southerly branch in St Albans.

Welford posed for photos, greeted customers and even jumped on the exercise bike himself for the cause. The branch also held a raffle for a signed Leicester Tigers shirt.

Team GB’s bobsleigh athlete Adam Hames from Loughborough also popped in to help the team out.

Loughborough branch manager Kate Brown said: “It’s been a fun day of fundraising with everyone at the branch and our customers getting involved. A huge thanks to all the staff here who all put in the miles today in aid of the great work Sports Aid do.

“It was great to have Adam and Welford down too. Our association with local sport is something we’re very proud of and we can’t wait to cheer them on in the new season.”

Nottingham Building Society is an official partner of Leicester Tigers.
