Welford Road festivities in store for fans

Welford Road will be the place to be in the build-up to Christmas with Leicester Tigers hosting two home fixtures during the festive period.

Tigers’ European Champions Cup fixture against Munster on Sunday, December 17 (5.30pm) and the Christmas Eve showdown with Saracens in the Aviva Premiership (3.00pm) will also include some special Christmas celebrations for fans, friends and families to enjoy.

With the message ‘We Are Christmas Eve’, Tigers will host festivities including a Christmas market, Santa’s grotto, themed activities and stalls as well as inviting supporters to take part in a Christmas half-time pass the parcel.

As well as a giant Christmas tree outside the main reception of the Holland & Barrett Stand to help get visitors into the festive spirit, we’ll have carol singers, a brass band and prizes for best fancy dress.

Supporters will also be able to purchase Christmas gifts from both the Welford Road and Highcross Shopping Centre club stores. So whether you’re looking for the latest replica kit or last-minute stocking fillers, the club’s stores will have everything you need.

We’ll be sharing Christmas content across the club’s social media channels, including a special #Welford125 advent calendar revealing special moments from 125 years of rugby at Welford Road.

On top of this, the club will also have a number of offers for group tickets. Keep an eye on the website for all the latest as these will be limited on availability.

Christmas is a special time of year, especially here at Welford Road. Over the years, the Tigers family have always come together to watch rugby and celebrate during the festive break so we’re hugely excited about these fixtures.

Chris Rose, head of brand at Leicester Tigers

Chris added: "In the past, Welford Road was renowned for its Christmas match-up with the Barbarians which saw fans flock in their thousands to see some of the game’s best players. We’re proud of the fact that atmosphere has never been stronger and now in our 125th year at Welford Road, the fans still make the festive season special.

“With everything from festive food and drink to activities for the youngsters, we can’t wait to welcome people down to the stadium in the two Christmas games.”

Watch out on the Tigers website and social media in the run-up to Christmas for more details of the club’s festive plans.

Tickets for both Christmas fixtures are on general sale now. Book by phoning the ticket office on 0116 319 8888 (option 2), visit the Tigers store at Highcross Shopping Centre or book online.
