Welford Road returning to normal after LMF

Welford Road is returning to normal after hosting the Leicester Music Festival.

The sun shone as thousands of music fans partied at the home of Leicester Tigers for the two-day event, which was headlined by Tinie Tempah and Labrinth.

Stage crew began work almost as soon as Labrinth completed his Saturday night set to turn Welford Road from a concert venue back to a rugby ground.

The crew worked through Saturday night to take down the lighting, big screens and PA and continued throughout Sunday, taking the protective covers off the pitch and deconstructing the staging, which was erected over the Holland & Barrett Stand Terrace. Work on taking down the stage is expected to continue into Tuesday.

The stage was the focal point of one of the biggest parties Welford Road has seen.

Tinie Tempah on the Friday night and Labrinth on the Saturday produced brilliant headline sets and were superbly supported by Professor Green and The Saturdays.

Reggae band UB40 drew one of the biggest crowds of the weekend while R&B star Billy Ocean, soul-funk group Kool and the Gang and jumping set by Katy B were well received by a sun-drenched Welford Road.

Street dance troupe Diversity performed on both days and there was a warm welcome in her home city for X Factor winner Sam Bailey.
