Welford Road stadium and pitch works

Figure image
The Welford Road pitch was seeded today as work continues to prepare the stadium for the 2015/16 campaign.Work to resurface the pitch is going on at the same time as the redevelopment of the Clubhouse End of the ground.   The top layers have already been taken off the playing surface with particular attention paid to the problematic area in front of the Holland & Barrett Stand.   The pitch was then sanded before it was seeded and fertilised today. It is expected the first shoots of grass will begin to appear over the next week or so.   Meanwhile, work is continuing on the redevelopment of the West Stand. The buildings at Aylestone Road end of the ground have now been demolished and the exterior wall alongside Gate 1 was knocked down today.   Tigers are working closely with architects AFL and contractors Buckingham on the development, which will feature 3,000 seats taking stadium capacity to 26,000. The stand will house a premium season ticket lounge known as The Clubhouse, plus club offices and a public concourse. Season tickets in all areas of the stadium, including the new stand, are available for 2015/16 now. There are bronze, silver and gold seats in the new stand, plus a limited number of Tiger Seats available at the same rate as terrace season tickets. Click here for more season ticket information or contract the Tigers ticket office in person or phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2). There is a new section of the club website with updates and photo galleries from the redevelopment work, and a third webcam has now been added so you can keep up with the work.
