Leicester Tigers have received a surge in enquiries for wedding celebrations at Welford Road following the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Tigers joined in the congratulations on social media today after the Royal Family announced that Prince Harry and Ms Markle will be married next year.
Tigers sent a message to the couple on Twitter, and light-heartedly reminded the club’s followers about the wedding facilities at Welford Road. The tweet has reached more than 60,000 people and growing.
Now the conference and events team have reported a rise in wedding and Asian wedding celebration enquiries, while the group sales team have also experienced an increase in queries about stag and hen parties.
Conference and events manager Katie Glaze said: “Congratulations to the happy couple from all at Welford Road.”
She added: “Welford Road is the perfect venue to celebrate weddings, with rooms and suites of all sizes to suit any need.
“We know that a wedding day is one of the most important in people’s lives and understand the time and planning that goes into making it special. As such, we have a dedicated team of co-ordinators who will help ensure your wedding day is perfect for you.”
Rob Smith, group sales manager, added: “Matchdays at Welford Road are the ideal time to celebrate a stag or hen do.
“We already have more groups than ever before joining us towards the end of the season, with the game against Wasps at Welford Road on the weekend of March 24 proving particularly popular.
“We can tailor a package for the group, such as VIP Matchday Hospitality or the chance to take part in the Big Boot at half-time.
“We know that Prince Harry is a huge rugby fan, and we would love to welcome him to Welford Road to take on the Big Boot!”
